(a re-post of something I sent to my cousin in 2012)
God has given me so many revelations over the last several weeks! I want to share the most recent one:
People often ask "what do you do for a living?". The "old me" would've said "Oh, I work at *insert places I've worked at in the past*". But God is my sole provider. My "occupation" is that I work at Lake Medical Imaging. And it's not even "my job", it's "my assignment from God"; and it's certainly not "what I do for a living". What I do for a living is diligently seek God and His kingdom. He provides everything I need (Philippians 4:19 - But my God shall supply all your need, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus), AND He gives me the desires of my heart as I delight in Him (Psalm 37:4 - Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart").
All my success and wealth and health (EVERYTHING I need) comes from God; not from a job, or from man. Getting this "job" from God was the first major step in Him showing me that HE provides all my needs; nobody else, including myself (my own hard work, etc). Nothing I do of my own accord will prosper me; I prosper IN Christ (John 15:5).
I know you may already know all this stuff, but the striking part of this revelation was the fact that "what I do for a living" is NOT my occupation. If I continued claiming and believing that, then I would've walked under the curse of poverty the rest of my life. But as God reveals the full power of who I am in Christ, my words (what I claim) is changing to line up with what God's Word says. And as I keep walking in that, I'm walking more and more in the fullness of His will for my life (prosperity in EVERY area of my life).
